Kitchen Sliding Door Window Treatments
One of the most useful window styles when experimenting with the kitchen window treatments is the basic awning window which is mainly for ventilation purpose. It consists of a huge glass with hinges on the top. These windows come in many patterns and can be made very attractive by a beautiful stained glass painting on the window glass which would give a pleasant and mystical effect to the whole kitchen ambiance.
There is a wide choice of kitchen window treatments out there for you to choose to and from everything you have to do is choose one. Easier said than done though, no? This is a big selection makes it so difficult to choose just one! If only we had more than one kitchen! The trick to choosing the best kitchen window treatments is to think outside the box. There is no reason to remain alone with the conventional and plain window treatments, go wild and try something new, you just might like it.
The Pitfalls of Choosing Sliding Glass Door Window Treatments
By Christopher W Smith - Ezinearticles
When we moved into our "new" home a number of years ago, we hated the heavy, oversized drapery that was hanging over the sliding door. It was too wide, too long, and so thick that we didn't get much badly-needed light in our kitchen. We really didn't think we could afford a new window treatment, so we tried getting the existing drapery dry cleaned and cut down to size. Unfortunately, when the fabric was being dry cleaned, it literally fell to pieces. So, we were faced with finding a new sliding glass door window treatment after all. Our dilemma, in addition to financial concerns, was what kind of window covering would be best, and back then there wasn't a lot to choose from.

It's hard to know what kind of window treatment to put on a sliding glass door. We wanted something that wouldn't take up a lot of room when it was opened, and something that would allow a lot of light to come in. Therefore, we settled on woven wood shades. They were beautiful, and they folded up out of the way when not in use. However, it wasn't long before the strings that operated them snapped under the weight of the blinds, and we found that our new kitten liked to climb them, snagging the fabric all the way. Obviously, we hadn't chosen the right window treatments for our lifestyle.
Following the woven blinds fiasco, we couldn't decide what we would like better, although we knew it wasn't going to be those ugly vertical blinds that were available back then. Fortunately, we learned about Pella sliding doors which have blinds in between the glass, so we had a new door installed, and it turned out to be the perfect answer. Of course, it was also a very expensive option and one that many homeowners wouldn't need to use, because there's nothing wrong with the doors they have. However, it is one excellent choice that is available.
There have been a lot of new sliding glass door window treatments introduced to the market since that time, so homeowners do have some choices we didn't have. Homeowners also have the Internet where they can do a lot of looking and comparison pricing before making any final decisions.
